Porcelain from Thuringia
Reichenbach porcelain comes from Thuringia, from the village of Reichenbach between Jena and Gera. Around 1830 decoration workshops appeared there, where white porcelain was painted by hand. Seventy years later nine of those family businesses joined forces to make porcelain themselves: the start of the Porzellanmanufaktur Reichenbach.

A porcelain region
Thuringia is one of Germany's old porcelain regions. In the nineteenth century a large share of German porcelain production came from there, and many small companies worked on decoration and painting.
Decoration as the origin
Because Reichenbach started with painting porcelain, decoration has always remained part of the brand. Which shapes and decorations are available today we check per request, based on the ranges Reichenbach offers.
When Reichenbach fits
Reichenbach suits a venue looking for German porcelain with its own decoration, for a finely laid table, a tearoom or a hotel with a classic interior.
Decoration in daily service
Decorated porcelain needs a little more care in a venue than white porcelain. With a gold or platinum decoration, always check whether it can go in the dishwasher; metal does not belong in the microwave. For daily service you therefore often choose a simpler decoration, and the richer work for the laid table or dessert.
Preparing your request
Start from the menu: which dishes go on which plate, and how many covers you lay at once. Plan a reserve per piece for washing during service and for breakage. Also measure your dishwasher racks and your plate and warming cabinets: a plate that just does not fit costs time every day.
