Tumbler or stemmed water glass

A tumbler is low, without a stem, and takes up little space in the cupboard. It is the everyday glass: water with a meal, juice at breakfast, a soft drink with ice. A stemmed glass belongs on a set table, next to the wine glass. Nachtmann has two in Noblesse: a small and a tall goblet.

For juice at breakfast a smaller glass is enough, such as the Soiree juice glass. For soft drinks with ice, a generous tumbler is better, such as the Authentis Casual XL or the Style L. That way every glass in the cupboard has its own job.

At the table the water glass stands next to the wine glass. So ideally choose it from the same line as your wine glasses. Then both glasses share the same lines and the same clarity.

Water glasses by collection

Each collection below also has other glasses, so you can match the water glass to what is already on the table.

  • Soiree (Spiegelau): a water glass, a mineral water glass and a juice glass, in the same line as the Soiree Bordeaux glass.
  • Authentis Casual (Spiegelau): a universal tumbler M and a multi-purpose tumbler XL, for water, juice or a glass of wine at the kitchen table.
  • Style (Spiegelau): a tumbler S and L, to go with the Style coupette and the Style red wine glass.
  • Lifestyle, Elegance and Arabesque (Spiegelau): each a tumbler to go with the wine or long drink glasses in that line.
  • Highland (Nachtmann): a square tumbler, clear or smoke-coloured.
  • Jules (Nachtmann): a tumbler, with the long drink glass from the same line.
  • Noblesse (Nachtmann): a small and a tall goblet, and a soft drink glass.

How many water glasses do you need?

At home, allow one water glass per person at the table, plus a few extra for guests or a glass that breaks. Spiegelau comes in boxes of 12, which is enough for most families with some to spare. Nachtmann Noblesse comes in boxes of 4, Highland and Jules in boxes of 12.

The price is per glass, incl. 21% VAT. You order by the box, so the total is the price per glass times the number in the box. Choose a line to which you can later add wine glasses or highball glasses.

For a restaurant, count one water glass per cover, plus the glasses in the dishwasher during service and a reserve for breakage. For hospitality businesses there is a separate professional webshop. You see your prices and terms after signing in.

Water glasses in the dishwasher

A water glass goes through the dishwasher almost every day. Spiegelau describes its glasses as dishwasher safe. Place them apart so they do not knock together, and use rinse aid. Otherwise hard water leaves white marks.

Do not overdose the detergent and do not choose a hotter programme than needed. Over time that can make glass cloudy. Dry with a lint-free cloth if you want the glasses to sparkle on the table. For Nachtmann glasses, the care instructions are on the product sheet.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a water glass and a tumbler?

A tumbler is a glass without a stem. Water glass describes what you use it for: that can be a tumbler or a stemmed glass, such as the Noblesse goblets.

Which water glass goes with my wine glasses?

Ideally one from the same collection. Soiree, Style, Lifestyle and Arabesque by Spiegelau have a water glass or tumbler alongside their wine glasses.

Can I buy water glasses individually?

No, by the pack: Spiegelau in boxes of 12, Nachtmann in boxes of 4 or 12. The price on the site is per glass, incl. VAT, and the box costs that amount times the number of glasses.

Are crystal water glasses too fragile for everyday use?

No. Spiegelau describes its crystal glass as break-resistant, and a tumbler without a stem is the least sensitive to knocks. A stemmed glass needs a little more care when washing and storing.

Can water glasses go in the dishwasher?

Yes, Spiegelau describes its glasses as dishwasher safe. Use rinse aid against limescale marks and place the glasses apart. For Nachtmann, the care instructions are on the product sheet.

Is delivery free?

In Belgium from €100 incl. VAT; below that you pay €8 incl. VAT. To the Netherlands and Luxembourg it is free from €1,000 incl. VAT, otherwise €25 incl. VAT.

Can I see the water glasses first?

Yes. In the showroom at Doenaertstraat 16, 8510 Marke (Kortrijk), by appointment. Feel free to bring a wine glass you use at home.
