Which cocktail glass for which cocktail

A cocktail without ice gets a stemmed glass, so your hand does not warm the drink. The coupette, with its wide, shallow bowl, is the classic glass for shaken cocktails such as a daiquiri or a sidecar. The Nick & Nora glass is smaller and taller, with a narrower opening. In it, a stirred martini or manhattan is less likely to spill.

Drinks with lots of ice and bubbles need more room. The spritz glass and the gin and tonic glass are generous, so ice, tonic and a slice of citrus fit without the glass overflowing.

  • Coupette: Lifestyle (31 cl) and Style, for shaken cocktails without ice.
  • Nick & Nora (15 cl): Perfect Serve, for a martini or a manhattan.
  • Cocktail glass: Perfect Serve by Spiegelau and Palais by Nachtmann.
  • Spritz: the Apero Spritz glass, with room for ice and bubbles.
  • Gin and tonic: the Gin & Tonic glass from the Spiegelau Special glasses.
  • Espresso and shot glass: Perfect Serve, for a small shot or an espresso.

Perfect Serve and the other collections

Perfect Serve is the bar line from Spiegelau. It has a cocktail glass, a Nick & Nora glass, an espresso and shot glass and a large mixing glass. There are also tumblers and long drink glasses, which you will find under whisky glasses and highball glasses. If you are building a cocktail corner at home or a bar in your venue, that keeps all the glasses in one line.

Lifestyle and Style also have wine glasses. A coupette from the same line as your wine glasses keeps the table consistent. Palais by Nachtmann has a cocktail glass alongside wine, champagne and whisky glasses.

The Perfect Serve mixing glass is sold individually. In it you stir a martini or a negroni on ice before pouring it into the chilled glass.

Cocktail glasses at home and in hospitality

At home two shapes are often enough: a coupette or a Nick & Nora for cocktails without ice, and a generous glass for spritz and gin and tonic. A low tumbler for an old fashioned completes the set. Some people pour champagne into the coupette as well. For bubbles that need to last, a champagne glass is the better choice, because the fizz fades faster in a wide bowl.

For a venue, link each cocktail on the menu to one glass. The fewer models, the simpler the glass cupboard and the reordering. More glassware for restaurants and bars is under hospitality glasses. For hospitality businesses there is a separate professional webshop. You see your prices and terms after signing in.

Packaging, chilling and care

Spiegelau cocktail glasses come in boxes of 12, the Palais cocktail glass by Nachtmann in boxes of 6. The price is per glass, incl. 21% VAT. You pay per box: the price per glass times the number of glasses.

A cocktail without ice stays cold longer in a chilled glass. Put the glass in the freezer for a quarter of an hour, or fill it briefly with iced water while you shake. Do not fill a glass that is still warm from the dishwasher with ice straight away.

Spiegelau describes its glasses as dishwasher safe. Place stemmed glasses in the rack so the bowls do not touch. When drying, hold the bowl and the foot together and do not twist the stem.
