Hospitality supplies East Flanders

For Ghent chefs who see the difference

In a city with as many good restaurants as Ghent, you stand out with your menu, but also with what is on the table. The glass, the plate, the knife: your guest takes all of it into account.

Debecker has supplied glassware, porcelain, cutlery and table lighting to restaurants, hotels, bars and caterers since 1994. Our showroom in Kortrijk is close by, and we deliver throughout East Flanders.

A table that matches your cooking

Creative kitchens. If you work with seasons, colour and texture, you will find plates with character at Playground, Pordamsa and Esma Dereboy. Handmade porcelain from Esma Dereboy makes every plate just a little different.

Brasseries and bistros. A solid professional porcelain foundation, such as Schönwald or Figgjo, combined with cutlery from Comas, available in dozens of collections.

Wine and cocktail bars. A wine list only shows its full potential in the right glass. Spiegelau and Nachtmann have glasses for every wine, champagne and cocktail. Browse our hospitality glassware.

Equipping a Ghent bistro: the essentials

A bistro often opens on a tight budget with a full menu. You do not want to buy pieces you will not use, but you do not want to run short in the first week either. These are the essentials.

Porcelain. A flat plate for mains, a deep plate for soup and stews, a small plate for bread or dessert, and coffee cups. Choose one line as your base, such as Schönwald Unlimited or Figgjo Brem. For one or two signature dishes, add a standout plate from Playground.

Cutlery. One collection for every cover, with a steak knife if you serve steak. At Comas you choose from dozens of collections, from London to Lab.

Glassware. A wine glass for red and white, a water glass and a glass for beer or an aperitif. For wine, Spiegelau Lifestyle or Festival is a good starting point.

Sharing. A serving platter from Gio Bagnara or Playground for sharing dishes and bar snacks.

On the table. A table lamp from Humble, such as the One or the Bee, turns a simple bistro table into a place where guests linger in the evening.

Start with these essentials and see after a few weeks of service what is missing. When you reorder, stay within the same collections so your table remains a whole.

Matching glassware, porcelain and cutlery

A beautiful plate with the wrong cutlery looks messy. A table where everything fits feels like one whole, even if the guest cannot say why. This is how you build that table.

Start with the plate. Your cooking sets the table. If you work with rough textures and seasonal vegetables, handmade porcelain fits well, such as the Stone or Touch collection from Esma Dereboy. If you cook in a clean, classic style, choose a calm line such as Schönwald Fine Dining or Figgjo Europa.

Then choose the cutlery. Cutlery follows the plate. Sturdy handmade porcelain pairs well with a matt or warm finish, such as the BCN lines from Comas in Satin Gold, Black or Copper. A classic plate calls for a classic shape, such as Robert Welch Radford or Comas Baguette.

Finish with the glass. The glass serves your drinks list. For an ambitious wine list, choose Spiegelau Authentis or Vino grande. For long drinks and whisky, look at Nachtmann, for example Bossa nova or Highland.

Not sure? In the showroom, place a plate, a cutlery setting and a glass side by side. You will see straight away whether it works.

Yes, in Ghent and throughout East Flanders, on Belgian terms.

What does delivery cost?

For private customers €8 incl. VAT, free from €100 incl. VAT. Hospitality businesses see their prices and terms after signing in to the professional webshop.

Can I see the products first?

Yes, in our showroom in Kortrijk, by appointment. The tables there are fully set.

What is the minimum I need to open a bistro?

A flat, a deep and a small plate, coffee cups, one cutlery collection, a wine glass, a water glass and a glass for beer or an aperitif. After that, you add to it according to your menu.

Which wine glasses suit a bistro?

To start, one wine glass for red and white is enough, for example from Spiegelau Lifestyle or Festival. For an extensive wine list, look at Authentis or Vino grande.

Do you have handmade porcelain?

Yes, including Esma Dereboy, with collections such as Stone, Capsule, Touch and Tube.

Which cutlery goes with handmade porcelain?

Often a matt or warm finish, such as the BCN lines from Comas in Satin Gold, Black or Copper. In the showroom you can compare them side by side before you decide.

Can I combine different brands on one table?

Yes. A plate from Esma Dereboy with cutlery from Comas and a glass from Spiegelau works perfectly well. What matters is that the style fits, not that everything comes from one brand.

Yes. For hospitality businesses there is a separate professional webshop. You see your prices and terms after signing in.

Can I return something?

Yes. Report the return within 14 days of receipt, then you have another 14 days to send it back. Debecker covers the return costs.
