Which deep plate to choose

A deep plate with a wide rim is the classic soup plate. The rim gives you a grip when serving, and the dish sits in the centre. For pasta, choose a generous deep plate, or a pasta bowl such as those by Le Coq Porcelaine in Aphros and Skalistos.

A deep coupe plate has no rim. It looks contemporary and stacks compactly. Schönwald, Playground and Heart & Soul make them in several sizes.

A semi-deep plate sits in between: for a main course with sauce, or a salad as a meal. Figgjo and Schönwald make them in the same lines as their flat plates.

The brands

Schönwald has deep plates with and without a rim in Fine Dining, Form 98, Unlimited and Shiro. Le Coq Porcelaine has deep plates and pasta bowls, also with a gold rim. Figgjo makes deep and semi-deep plates in Base, Grad, Ting and Front Dining.

Playground and Heart & Soul have deep coupe plates and plates with relief. Dibbern makes soup and pasta plates in white and with a platinum rim. Pordamsa has deep plates in matt and glossy porcelain, such as Taffoni and Sand.

Usually in packs of 6, sometimes 4 or 12. The price per pack is shown with the product.
