Plates by type

Start with what you serve. Each type has its own page with the plates, the sizes and how to choose.

Which porcelain plates to choose

You judge a plate by its weight and its rim. A plate with a wide rim looks formal and keeps sauce in place. A coupe plate has no rim: the food gets the whole surface, and the table looks calmer.

Choose one line first and build on it. Schönwald, Figgjo and Le Coq Porcelaine have the flat, the deep and the smaller plate in the same collection. That way you can add to it later without a table full of different whites.

How many do you need? Per person a flat and a deep plate, a dessert plate and possibly a bread plate. Add a few for breakages and for the days when the dishwasher is still running.

The brands

Schönwald makes sturdy white porcelain for the hospitality trade, with lines such as Fine Dining, Form 98, Unlimited and Shiro. Figgjo from Norway has Base, Grad, Ting and Front Dining, among others. Le Coq Porcelaine has decorated lines with a gold or coloured rim, such as Anthiros, Ionica and Helios, with chargers up to 34 cm.

Playground and Heart & Soul have coupe plates and plates with relief. Dibbern makes fine white porcelain, also with a platinum rim. Pordamsa, Vista Alegre and Esma Dereboy have freer shapes, for a plate that stands out on its own.

Frequently asked questions

Do I buy porcelain plates individually?

Usually not. Many plates come in packs of 6, some in packs of 4 or 12. The price per pack is shown with the product.

What is the difference between a coupe plate and a rimmed plate?

A coupe plate has no rim, so the whole surface is for the food. A rimmed plate looks more classic and keeps sauce in place better.

Can I order more plates later?

Yes, as long as the brand makes the collection. So choose a line with flat, deep and smaller plates, and you can add to it within the same collection.

Can these plates go in the dishwasher?

White hospitality porcelain is made for the dishwasher. For plates with a gold or platinum rim, the product sheet tells you how to clean them.

How much is shipping?

In Belgium, shipping costs €8 incl. VAT and is free from €100 incl. VAT. To the Netherlands and Luxembourg, shipping is €25 incl. VAT, free from €1,000 incl. VAT.

Can I see the plates first?

Yes, in the showroom at Doenaertstraat 16, 8510 Marke (Kortrijk), by appointment.
